Walk of Wonder

Recently, a dream project became a reality in the landscape of Nijmegen. In collaboration with Fillip Studios, we created nine collages for Walk of Wonder-an immersive, contemplative route near Radboud University and Radboud UMC. Inspired by the Stations of the Cross, this journey interweaves seven sensory artworks that invite deep reflection. The collages add a visual layer that reinforces the theme and provides imagery for all visitors.

Concept
Each collage embodies themes of resilience, community and recovery, depicted in scenes inspired by nature and care. With soft colors and abstract shapes, the collages capture emotions and stories, such as hospital staff depicted as the roots of a tree, supporting patients as they prepare to go home. The layered design on glass reinforces this depth and invites viewers to delve into each scene.

What did we create?
Fillip Studios created the display cases in collaboration with Collective Smooth, using acrylic glass divided into three sheets for added depth. Each collage was extensively tested to ensure clarity and richness in each print.

Sparkles
A particularly striking artwork highlights the horseshoe crab, a 400-million-year-old creature essential to medical research. This ancient animal symbolizes resilience and the interconnectedness of life-an apt metaphor for both a hospital environment and the broader human experience.

The Walk of Wonder is a living work of art, in which new layers and perspectives are constantly unfolding. This evolving route enriches the landscape of Nijmegen and creates a meaningful and immersive experience for all who walk the path.
