Power of the Throne

The exhibition The Power of the Throne: A Symbol of Power showcases a unique piece of furniture reserved for the highest authority, whether royal or divine. We had the pleasure of designing the graphic elements for this remarkable exhibit, collaborating with the talented Maison the Faux on exhibition design and Brandwacht & Meijer, who helped bring it all to life.

Concept
Drawing inspiration from the throne’s significance, we incorporated abstract references to ideas like being on a stage or in the spotlight, creating an immersive experience for visitors. Each exhibition space features a distinct color and form palette that complements its theme, contributing to a cohesive atmosphere. Walking through the exhibit feels like journeying through different parts of one world: the world of thrones.

What we made
The graphic design includes text boards placed at various levels, seamlessly blending with the backgrounds at an object level while standing out as eye-catching elements for thematic texts. This thoughtful integration enhances the overall narrative and invites viewers to engage with the content on multiple levels.

Sparkles

Did someone say Game of Thrones? I must admit, I’m a fan! The inclusion of THE GoT throne alongside the throne of the King of the Netherlands sparked my creativity and enthusiasm. I find it incredibly inspiring how Paleis het Loo combines diverse worlds and cultures within one exhibition, prompting thought-provoking questions: What defines a throne? How is it depicted in pop culture, media, or art? What makes a chair a throne? Should a country need a throne? Food for thought.
