Power of the Throne

The exhibition Kracht van de Troon (The Power of the Throne) highlights a unique piece of furniture reserved for the highest authority, whether royal or divine. We had the pleasure of designing the graphics for this special exhibition, working with the talented Maison the Faux for the exhibition design and Brandwacht & Meijer, who helped bring everything to life.

Concept
Inspired by the meaning of the throne, we incorporated abstract references to ideas such as standing on a stage or in the spotlight. This gives visitors an immersive experience. Each exhibition space has its own color and shape palette that supports the theme and contributes to a cohesive atmosphere. Walking through the exhibition feels like a journey through different parts of one world: the world of thrones.

What did we create?
The graphic design includes text boards at different heights that seamlessly blend into the object-level backgrounds, while at the same time standing out as eye-catching thematic texts. This thoughtful integration enhances the overall narrative and invites visitors to interact with the content on multiple levels.

Sparkles
Did someone say Game of Thrones? We must confess: we are fans! The addition of THE GoT throne next to the throne of the King of the Netherlands certainly got us excited. It’s incredibly inspiring how Paleis Het Loo brings together diverse worlds and cultures in one exhibition, raising tantalizing questions: What defines a throne? How is it depicted in pop culture, media or art? What makes a chair a throne? Should a country have a throne? Food for thought.
